ERD – Early Researchers’ Day

Since PME 38, hosted in Vancouver, PME conferences have included a special day for early career researchers, the Early Researchers’ Day (ERD). The ERD precedes the main PME conference and consists of presentations, working groups, and other kinds of sessions planned to be of value to those new to research in mathematics education. Based on the first experiences, the ERD proved to be of interest and value and therefore the PME membership voted to make it a permanent part of PME conferences since PME 41 in Singapore.

The aim of the ERD is to provide early career researchers with opportunities to develop their research skills in various fields, establish new contacts, build networks among themselves and with respect to future PME conferences, and meet and work with international experts in the field. It is organized by a member of the Local Organizing Committee of the corresponding PME conference and a PME representative appointed by the International Committee. It also includes a social program to provide opportunities for informal exchanges and further networking.

Priority is given to first time applicants who are in the final year of their doctoral studies or were awarded their PhD in recent years, with special consideration for applicants from underrepresented countries.
